## What BARD actually is

BARD is the native **governance and utility token of the Lombard protocol**, which describes itself as building the infrastructure to bring Bitcoin onchain and monetize "unproductive" Bitcoin through lending, yield, and collateral products [DOC-2], [DOC-3], [[2]](https://www.lombard.finance/).
