1. What Is ATOM?

The Interchain Foundation, a Swiss non-profit, coordinates funding for the core stack. Validators stake ATOM to secure the Hub, transactions pay fees in ATOM, and governance proposals resolve through ATOM-weighted voting [16]. As of late June 2026, CoinMarketCap ranked ATOM around #56 with roughly $930M market cap, 515.16M circulating supply, infinite max supply, and $24.7M 24-hour volume [17].
