KAS is the native token of Kaspa, an open-source, proof-of-work Layer-1 network that uses a blockDAG architecture and the GHOSTDAG consensus rule, letting parallel blocks be ordered and confirmed faster than a single-chain design [15], [16]. It launched via a fair launch on November 7, 2021, with no premine or team allocation [15]. Mining uses the kHeavyHash algorithm, and the coin has a capped supply of ~28.7 billion KAS, of which roughly 96% is already in circulation [1], [15], [16]. KAS is a native coin (no smart contract), so unlike an equity it has no filings, earnings, or share fundamentals — a "KAS" ticker that looks like a stock is a different asset [3], [DOC-4].
