What STX-USD Is

Stacks is a Bitcoin-focused smart-contract network that operates as a separate execution layer anchored to Bitcoin, adding programmable functionality without changing Bitcoin's base protocol [15]. STX is its native token, used for transaction fees, smart-contract activity, network participation, and Stacking [15]. The network uses Proof of Transfer (PoX) consensus, in which miners commit BTC to compete for block production, and STX holders lock tokens through Stacking to receive BTC-denominated rewards [15]. The ecosystem also includes sBTC (a decentralized Bitcoin-backed asset), ALEX/Bitflow (DEX liquidity), Zest Protocol (lending), and wallets like Leather and Xverse [15].
