What TOSHI is

TOSHI is a cat-themed memecoin deployed on Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network backed by Coinbase. Its name references Coinbase co-founder Brian Armstrong's cat, Toshi, plus "Satoshi Nakamoto" (the pseudonymous Bitcoin creator) [2], [4], [7]. It is an ERC-20 token on Base (on-chain contract 0xAC1Bd2486Af3B5C0fc3Fd868558b082a531B2B4), governed by a community vote body called MEOW DAO, and was launched through community-driven means with no traditional fundraiser or identified founders [4], [14]. The token has a fixed maximum supply of ~420.69 billion tokens, of which essentially all is in circulation (~420.66 billion) [7], [14], [17].
