Asset Overview

XRP is the native digital asset of the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a public blockchain designed primarily for cross-border payments. The XRPL uses a consensus protocol (not mining or PoW/PoS) that settles transactions in 3–5 seconds at sub-cent cost [DOC-3]. Total supply is capped at 100 billion tokens, with roughly 99.99B currently in circulation [DOC-1]. Ripple, the private company, builds payment and stablecoin products (notably RLUSD) on the ledger, but Ripple's commercial success does not mechanically translate into XRP demand — a distinction that matters for the investment case [DOC-5].
