What AXL / Axelar Is

AXL is the native utility/governance token of the Axelar Network, an open-source, cross-chain interoperability protocol that lets blockchains send messages and transfer assets between one another [2][10][12]. It is used to pay transaction fees and reward validators on the network [10]. The "-USD" in AXL-USD is simply the quote currency, not part of the token's name. Token economics: 1 billion AXL were allocated at genesis across employees/advisors, treasury, investors (Seed/Series A/B), and a public sale [16].
