Framing: What BEAM-USD is

BEAM (traded as BEAM-USD, where "-USD" is simply the quote currency and not part of the coin's name) is the native token of Beam, a gaming-focused blockchain ecosystem. Beam operates as a sovereign Avalanche Layer-1 (it was formerly a subnet) and rebranded from Merit Circle in October 2023, pivoting from a gaming guild/DAO into a "full-stack" gaming infrastructure play [DOC-2]. The BEAM token itself migrated from Merit Circle's former MC token at a 1:100 ratio [5]. It functions as the gas/fee token on the Beam Network and also exists as an ERC-20 on Ethereum, with cross-chain movement via Beam's own bridge [5].
